Program Overview:

The Global Hospitality Management (GHM) post-graduate certificate is open to international students with either a background or interest in the hospitality industry. The program will complement an already earned diploma or degree in business, hospitality, tourism, or a related field. Students in the GHM program will focus on essential management and operational knowledge, skills, and abilities needed in hospitality organizations through an exploration of theory and practice in the field of management. Students will earn a BASICS.fst Food Safe Handler Certificate, Smart Serve Ontario Certificate, and WHMIS Certificate as part of the core curriculum. The program prepares graduates to aspire to a supervisory or entry management position in hospitality organizations. The co-op stream is optional for students who meet specific eligibility criteria and includes one co-op work term instead of the Guided Career Management course. Completion of the GHM program can be part of a pathway for students to apply for a work visa in Canada.

Admission Requirements:

  • GPA: 60% or above

  • IELTS: Overall 6.5 no band below than 6.0

  • PTE: Overall 63 with no band below than 60

Learning Outcomes:

  1. Recommend corporate sustainability, corporate social responsibility and ethical practices to support global hospitality business initiatives.

  2. Perform effectively as a leader and professional in interactions with peers, co-workers, supervisors, customers and industry partners.

  3. Employ technological tools and strategies including relevant hospitality and business systems to support business functions and decisions.

  4. Examine the influence of international cuisines on the North American hospitality industry.

  5. Develop food and health safety protocols and practices to manage a hospitality business considering the nature and context of the particular hospitality environment.

Career Outlook:

Graduates of this program will be able to work in accommodations, restaurants, foodservice, catering, events, and tourism organizations. The program prepares graduates to aspire to an entry-level supervisor, management trainee or mid-management level position within either the domestic or international hospitality environments.
