Duration : 2 Years

Program Overview:

The M.Ed. in French Education program encourages students to address the challenges faced by educators in linguistic minority environments. It provides opportunities to investigate different teaching methods, engage in curriculum development and instruction, and explore leadership and other relevant topics.

Sample courses include EC&I 871AA, which connects teachers' experiences with curriculum realities. Students will critically analyze curriculum from various perspectives, including epistemological, political, economic, ideological, technical, personal, ethical, and historical viewpoints, focusing on two key questions in curriculum studies: who determines the content and how it should be taught.

Another course, EC&I 871EF, delves into the complexities of teaching French in minority contexts where multiple languages coexist. This course integrates insights from psychology, sociolinguistics, and didactics, helping students to understand the work of researchers who study the multilingual dynamics typical of contemporary minority environments.
