Program Overview:

Technical communicators are vital to companies that employ exceptional writers, editors, researchers, and information designers to make technical information accessible and useful. This Ontario College Graduate Certificate will provide you with the skills to design, create, illustrate, and produce content while using authoring tools to manage technical documents on multiple platforms. You will have access to cutting-edge software, and you will study at Conestoga’s newly renovated Waterloo campus in the heart of what CBRE (Coldwell Banker Richard Ellis) research has identified as Canada’s fastest-growing tech sector. The optional co-op stream includes one co-op work term.

Admission Requirements:

  • GPA: 60% or above

  • IELTS: Overall 6.5 no band below than 6.0

  • PTE: Overall 63 with no band below than 60

Learning Outcomes:

  1. Compose messages that are clear, concise, and error free to address the needs of a specified audience and purpose.

  2. Produce print and electronic media that apply industry-led principles of style, design, layout, and format to address client goals and user needs.

  3. Employ requisite levels of the editing process to craft content across a variety of media formats for purpose, concision, clarity, and usability.

  4. Produce text that applies appropriate and stylistic conventions of genre, logic, and rhetoric for a variety of audience types and communication needs.

  5. Integrate credible sources with appropriate industry and/or academic citation styles, to create documents that demonstrate professional rigour.
